A Rising Star in the Saddle: Lucas Murphy

The racing world is talking about young point-to-point sensation Lucas Murphy, and it’s easy to see why. At just 16 years old, the son of former jockey Timmy Murphy has taken the point-to-point scene by storm with an incredible debut season and a growing list of winners to his name.

As highlighted in a recent feature by BBC Sport journalist Claire Hart (Point-to-point correspondent; racingpost.com), Lucas has already been described as “the talent of the season” — praise that reflects not only his ability in the saddle, but also his dedication, work ethic and calm professionalism beyond his years.

That success is also rooted in a strong family influence. His mother, Verity Green, has enjoyed her first season as a trainer and has spoken about how much she is relishing being back involved in the pointing community again.
