PC Racewear | Our Story, Our Promise
Our brand was born from a simple frustration.
In 2004, I called around to see National Hunt jockey Paul Carberry at his house. After a catch-up, we soon noticed that on the back door were more than 30 jackets hanging on for dear life.
Paul explained that he often had to resort to changing coats as the weather or job changed, because neither one of them did everything particularly well.
This sparked an idea.
I asked Paul if he thought it would be possible to design one jacket that would do everything that the other 30 odd jackets hung around the house wouldn’t do, and he thought 'why not?!'.
From there we set to work! It took two years for us to carefully design, test and tweak before the PC Jacket was complete – a beautiful waterproof, warm, hard-wearing and stylish coat that looked the part everywhere.
From one jacket to a complete equestrian wardrobe.
The very first thing I did to sell the PC Jacket was to stand on the pavement at the RDS Horse Show in Dublin, with PC Jackets in a cardboard box. Standing there I talked to people, promoted and sold the jackets for the duration of the show, along with the invaluable help of Pamela Carberry and Aimee Grieve.
The original PC Jacket struck a chord with riders at the RDS Horse Show and demand grew by word of mouth, both in Ireland and abroad.
That same spirit of solving practical, real-world problems proved infectious. Since 2006, we have added Horse Riding Tops, Gloves, Breeches and Accessories to the PC range of equestrian clothing, all with Paul's expert eye guiding our design choices for ultimate functionality.
Our clothing is now sold online and through stockists across Ireland, the UK, France and Norway. Yet we remain true to our humble beginnings: listening to riders, solving their problems and never releasing a garment until it has earned its place.
Our mission: gear that works when the weather doesn’t
PC Racewear gear is built for people who spend long hours outdoors in unpredictable weather. On our home page we promise that our garments are ‘weatherproof, rider‑proven, built to last’.
Riders tell us our jackets and over‑trousers are the only waterproofs that genuinely keep them warm and dry, and our water resistant breeches were voted ‘Best in Test 2024’ by Horse & Rider magazine because they stay secure in the saddle and keep their contents dry even in heavy rain.
